Biting off more than you can chew?

Asked to do a Trash the Dress shoot turned into months of thinking and planning while waiting on the water to warm.    What resulted, was more of a bridal portrait than a Trash the Dress shoot.

The creativity we started with was shooting in the murky cold Wakulla River came closer to a search and rescue operation before moving to a second shoot (above) in a friend’s pool.  I definitely felt like I’d bitten off more than I could chew.

I realized that this shoot, along with others where I had to shoot a second time, are the ones where I have challenged the limits of my photographic knowledge.

When the shoot doesn’t work as planned, I make the necessary adjustments and shoot again until I have created the photograph that communicates my original vision.  Those shoots are not biting off more than I can chew but creative growth and  inherently these photographs are some of the most unique and visually interesting in my portfolio.  They drive my creative engine and the visibility of my clients.

Mark has the most amazing esthetics and great eye, in addition to the technical skills. He’s a risk taker and wildly imaginative and it shows in his work – a real photojournalist and amazing talent – plus a hell of a fun guy to work with!
